Accent Europe works with the Lyon University PhD School, training about 50 young researchers a year in the Lyon region. What is more, its partnership with Danaé Sciences http://www.danaesciences.com gives it the privilege of training researchers everywhere in France, providing training courses to Ifremer, Inserm and Inra, to mention but a few of the many research institutes and centers that call on our expertise.
These training courses help researchers and engineers to feel more at ease when writing their articles in English for international journals. PhD students and post doctoral researchers enrich their knowledge of scientific English at the same time as identifying the types of language used in the different parts of articles intended for publication in highly specialized journals. These 2 to 3-day courses are designed for a maximum of 10 trainees and use a learn-as-you-work approach so that the researchers can produce their own texts rather than work on models.
When one has to speak a foreign language in a formal situation, for example, in front of 200 experts, overcoming stage fright is a challenge, as is managing the media and tools used, pacing the slides and discourse, pronouncing complex concepts clearly, and dealing with multi-stage questions.
These 3-day intensive training courses for a maximum of 10 trainees help them to be more confident, more convincing, clearer and more dynamic in front of their peers.
